National Safety Day

Recently, the 52nd National Safety Day was observed on March 4, 2023 at Utsav Mancha, Shramik Kalyan Bhavan, Kankurgachi in Kolkata, West Bengal. The event was organized by the National Safety Council, West Bengal Chapter in collaboration with the Directorate of Factories ,Labour Department, Government of West Bengal.
The theme for the National Safety Day was “Our Aim – Zero Harm”. Workers, union representatives, and management representatives from various factories & construction sites of West Bengal attended the event in large numbers.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Shaon Sen, Additional Secretary, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal. In her address, she emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety in the workplace. She also highlighted the significant initiatives undertaken by the West Bengal government for the welfare of industries and workers.
Several experts shared valuable insights on how to maintain safety protocols in the workplace during the event. Prominent personalities present at the event included Smt. Sharmila Khatua, Additional Labour Commissioner, Shri Ashis Kumar Shit, Chief Inspector of Factories, West Bengal, and Shri Gautam Roy, Chairman, NSC West Bengal Chapter.
