It feels my heart with immense pleasure to release the website of the National Safety Council, West Bengal Center. I believe this website will contain all relevant and updated information related to various laws, acts, and circulars on safety and occupational health covering industrial and other social sectors. Today’s industry needs to continually bring the change management practices and also to transform to meet the customer expectations within the framework of contextual reality. Safety adherence, today, is not limited to compliance but to move beyond to achieve sustainability and build a culture of inclusiveness. Safety is the most important and integral part of the overall ecosystem and helps mitigate risk, retention of talent, and ensuring contemporary resource planning to achieve the target of growth and competitive cutting edge. Synergy for the organization can be achieved in a wholistic manner by way of systamic introduction of safety culture and standards.
It is therefore necessary to create capable human resources with a detailed understanding of safety issues. The government has taken many initiatives, including changing safety norms and statutes, strengthening monitoring mechanisms, and finally, upskilling and reskilling for employees and managerial staff. It is also emphasised on strict adherence to safety standards under the statute and to create proper governance systems at the company board level.
NSC, West Bengal chapter has always endeavored to help facilitate these cultures, and with able guidance of the Factory Directorate, it could achieve improved result of zero incidence in many factories and establishments. NSC has adopted an ambitious plan to reach a larger cross section of the society for creating awareness among all. In this journey, we seek cooperation and guidance from the stakeholders to make the effort inclusive, effective, and purposeful. I believe this website will definitely help moving towards that direction. I take this opportunity to make an appeal to all of you to share your views and thoughts using this platform as a media for lively interaction.
