National Safety Day

The 53rd National Safety Day was observed on March 4, 2024, at Utsav Mancha, Shramik Kalyan Bhavan, Kankurgachi in Kolkata, West Bengal. The event was organized by National Safety Council, West Bengal Chapter , in collaboration with the Directorate of Factories, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal
The theme for 53rd National Safety Day was “Focus on Safety Leadership for ESG Excellence.” Workers, union representatives, and management representatives from various factories & construction sites of West Bengal attended the event in large numbers.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Shaon Sen, Additional Secretary, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal. In her address, she emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety in the workplace. She also highlighted the significant initiatives undertaken by the West Bengal Government for the welfare of industries and workers.
Several experts shared valuable insights on how to maintain safety protocols in the workplace during the event. Prominent personalities present at the event included Shri Ashis Kumar Shit, Chief Inspector of Factories, West Bengal, Smt. Manisha Bhattacharya, Director, State Labour Institute, and Shri Gautam Roy, Chairman, NSC West Bengal Chapter.
